Description
Chapel of the One True Order of Edukon the Pure. (Not Tul'menz, as I boneheadedly babbled when I originally posted this.)
Rendered in Blender 2.49b.
There has been a small lull in Kara the Assassin comic, but I'm back in the rut and working on new comics! This one here is a background rendering from the next comic. I left this render last night to get the 2000x2000 version I usually use for panels, and when I logged on next morning, I got a distinct "whoa, this turned out better than I expected" feeling.
This is actually the raw rendering straight off Blender - just resized. I was surprised how good the end result looks like compared to what it was just yesterday, and the most remarkable difference is that the wooden board texture tiles properly and the wood texture in the pews actually looks a bit woodlike. This is also the first Blender rendering of mine that uses the node compositor, to add the shaded look to the scene. The scene was grayish to begin with, now it has a distinct pencilled look. Too bad Blender doesn't have built-in halftone nodes or this might look even cooler. And the toon shader is kind of limited so the edges are a bit weak. Patiently waiting for Freestyle.
